Dear Parishioner:

The Annual Meeting of St. John’s of Lattingtown will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, as part of the 10:30 a.m. service. The purpose of the meeting is to elect two new Wardens and four members of the Vestry, to review the budget and activities of the past year at St. John’s, to share information about recent changes to the Bylaws of St. John’s and to consider any other business that may properly be raised, including new business.

To be eligible to vote in the election, parishioners must be at least 18-years of age and baptized, and must have been a regular attendant of worship at St. John’s of Lattingtown and contributed financially to support St. John’s during the past twelve months.

Under the recently amended Bylaws of St. John’s, the Vestry is recommending the candidates for Warden and the recommendations of candidates for the Vestry have been provided by a Nominating Committee comprised of our Rector, The Rev'd Mark L. Fitzhugh, our current Wardens, Chad Doerge and John Sheldon, Harry Davison, Vicki Fox, and Kate Scefonas. We are grateful to the members of the Nominating Committee for their service in this important role.

The Vestry has recommended that the Parish elect the following as Wardens at the Annual Meeting:

Stephanie Clark, for election as Warden to serve a two-year term to expire in 2027.

John Sheldon, for election as Warden to fill a vacancy and serve a one-year term to expire in 2026.

The Vestry Nominating Committee has recommended that the Parish elect the following as members of the Vestry at the Annual Meeting:

Chad Doerge, for election as a member of the Vestry to fill a vacancy and serve a two-year term to expire in 2027.

Diana Fredericks, for re-election as a member of the Vestry to serve a three-year term to expire in 2028.

George Edwards-Stimola, for election as a member of the Vestry to serve a three-year term to expire in 2028.

Nancy Sanborn, for election as a member of the Vestry to serve a three-year term to expire in 2028.

We thank all of these candidates for their willingness to serve in these leadership positions for St. John’s, and express our gratitude for the service of Robert Copp and Peter Marshall, outgoing Vestry members whose terms will expire at the Annual Meeting. Nominations of additional candidates to serve on the Vestry may also be made by members of the congregation at large, either before or at the Annual Meeting, in accordance with the Bylaws of St. John’s. Nominations before the Annual Meeting must be (1) in writing, (2) supported by at least five (5) other parishioners (not including the nominee or any of his or her immediate family) and (3) submitted to the Nominating Committee no later than April 25, 2024. Nominations from the floor during the Annual Meeting will be permitted, but they must be supported by at least five (5) other parishioners (not including the nominee or any of his or her immediate family). In either case, the Nominating Committee must confirm to its satisfaction that the nominee is willing to serve if elected and satisfies the requirements of the Bylaws for a position on the Vestry. We encourage members of the congregation who may be interested in nominating candidates to review the Bylaws of St. John’s in advance. Please contact Mary Savin (marysavin@stjlat.org) for a copy of the Bylaws.

We encourage all members of the congregation to attend the Annual Meeting – to learn important information about St. John’s and its ministries, and to participate in the election of our lay leadership.

Sincerely,
Fr. Mark L. Fitzhugh,
Rector and the Vestry
