ANNUAL MEETING

 

Dear Parishioner:

The Annual Meeting of St. John's of Lattingtown will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024, as part of the 10:30 service. The purpose of the meeting is to review the budget and the activities of the past year at St. John's, and any other business that may be raised and acted upon, including any new business.

Vestry elections will also be held. St. John's By Laws state that to be eligible to vote: you must be at least eighteen years of age and have been baptized and have been a regular attendant of worship at St. John's of Lattingtown and have contributed to its support during the twelve months immediately prior to the annual election.

The Nominating Committee has recommended the following for election as permitted by the By Laws:
Cathleen (Cat) Colella Graham for an initial three-year term, to expire in 2027, with an option for re-election of an additional three-year term.
Sarah Bogart Cooney, Warden, for an initial two-year term, to expire in 2026,
We thank Harold Bollaci and Shannon Vulin, as they rotate off the Vestry.
Nominations from the congregation at large may be made in writing in accordance with St John's By-Laws, which require that the nominations be supported in writing by 5 parishioners and be submitted to the Nominating Committee no later than April 7th. At the Annual Meeting additional nominations from the floor also will be entertained.

MEET YOUR 2024 VESTRY CANDIDATES

SARAH BOGART COONEY (Warden Candidate)

FAMILY: Stephen (husband) and Freddie (son)
OCCUPATION: Executive director of The Holland Society of New York
Sarah grew up in Manhattan, and later Maryland, Colorado, and Texas, following her father’s career as a US Army officer. She spent her childhood summers with her grandparents in Locust Valley and would often attend services at St. John’s with her grandfather, Adrian Bogart, who was a Vestry member and Acolyte. She began attending St. John’s regularly with her husband, Stephen, and their son, Freddie, in 2022 when Freddie was old enough to participate in the 9 a.m. St John’s for Kids family service. Sarah graduated from  St. Tim’s in Baltimore and the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has worked in the nonprofit sector for most of her career, including at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C., and as the executive director of The Holland Society of New York, where she has been for the past seven years. She has volunteered with the National Park Service, the Junior League, Wounded Warriors, and she is a member of the Board of Governors at St. Tim’s. In 2021, she volunteered with the Afghan Evacuation Coordination Team, a private group formed to help those left behind by the official government operation. The Team secured transit for a number of Americans and Afghans from Kabul and obtained visas for the evacuees. At St. John’s, she serves on children’s outreach ministries, as well as this year’s Spring Dinner Dance Committee. 


CATHLEEN “CAT” COLELLA GRAHAM (Vestry Candidate)

FAMILY: Gordon (husband), Olivia Graham Willner (daughter), Harrison
Graham (son)
OCCUPATION: Professor Graduate Project Management, St. Francis College Cat Graham is an active and life-long parishioner having been confirmed, served as an Acolyte, married and her son Harrison having been baptized here. Her mother, Cathy Colella, was a 30-year member of the Altar Guild. Cat is a trusted change maker, coach and speaker with a proven track record of driving meaningful change through the power of communications. Cat is a Professor at St. Francis College and an internal communications advisor and coach for communicators. Cat founded Cheer Partners, the employee experience agency, after four successful years Cheer Partners was acquired by Lippe Taylor Group March, 2021. Cat secured the first and only trademark for Employee Experience. She is also a member of Forbes Human Resources Council, a mentor with the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, Benedictine University L.E.A.D.S Board Advisor, and Ragan Advisory Board member. She is a volunteer TED translator and co-founded the Diversity Marketing Consortium.
